Passports are necessary for travel to South Africa. Generally, visas are not required for most visitors. U.S. and European Union passports are sufficient for entry into South Africa. However, as a precaution we recommend that you check the visa requirements based on your nationality and the purpose of your visit. When booking your flights to South Africa, your main entry will be at one of our international airports in Johannesburg and Cape Town. Thereafter, you will need to catch a connecting flight to your final destination. As such, it is recommended to plan your flights a day before your safari is set to begin.
South Africa is a Malaria free country, therefore no malaria shots are required. However, when consulting with your registered physician, please do follow their recommendations regarding any other precautionary shots for visiting South Africa.
If you have any existing medical conditions, please ensure that you have gone for any necessary check-ups prior to your visit, and inform our staff when booking your trip. We also advise visitors to take out medical insurance for their visit.
The best months for hunting are from April through to end of August, these are our cooler winter months.Temperatures range from about:

The currency used in South Africa is the rand. There are 100 cents to 1 rand. Exchange bureaus are located throughout airports, banks, and some hotels in South Africa. We recommend converting some cash so that you may purchase any souvenirs during your stay here.
South Africa uses 220/230 volts AC 50 Hz, Time GMT +2. We recommend that you pack the correct power supply/plug converters for your electrical devices.
From time to time, South Africa experiences a situation known as “loadshedding.” This occurs when there is a temporary reduction in the electricity supply due to an imbalance between the demand for power and the available generation capacity. During loadshedding, electricity is temporarily cut off in certain areas to prevent a total blackout.
We would like to assure you that Braeside Safaris has adequate procedures in place to ensure your full comfort in the event of loadshedding. Our facilities are equipped with back-up power supplies to ensure that essential services are still operational.
Once you arrive at your destination airport, our guides will meet you there to transfer you to our farm. This transfer is included in your package price, and you will be given a full breakdown of the itinerary once booking your trip.
A deposit of 30 percent of the total daily rate will secure a hunting safari reservation. Deposits are non-refundable but are transferable to the following year. The balance is due on the first day of your hunting safari. No refund for timing deviations from the booked dates. Trophy fees are due on the completion of your hunting safaris.
Any game lost or wounded will be considered as taken and will be billed accordingly. Payment can be made by either cash or travellers cheques (USD). Taxidermy cost and shipping of the trophies can be arranged. Indemnity forms must be signed on arrival.
You are welcome to import your own hunting gear, but please ensure that you have the correct and up-to-date permits for your rifle and ammunition. For more information, please consult the official South African Police website: https://www.saps.gov.za/services/flash/firearms/importation.php
For hunters wishing to travel without their equipment, we do offer rifle hire and ammunition at an additional price. This should be confirmed during the safari booking process to ensure that everything is ready for you upon your arrival.
